Just back from Santa Fe, where it rained for 5 days straight...so unexpected! My first night I ate at the Corn Dance Cafe, which was delightful! It's Native American food -- lots of beans, wild game, and chiles of course. Started with the crayfish stew, spicy w/ lovely texture and good burn. Then onto the "little big pie", kind of a little pizza on flatbread topped w/ shredded chicken and roasted peppers. while I could have stopped there, I didn't. The bison steak was so good!
Next night, I joined a friend at SantaCafe. Wow! Kind of Santa Fe-meets-Asia. Much better than I thought. The baby green salad w/ chanterelles and a pinon vinegrette tasted sparkly! A very crisp taste. Next had the shrimp and spinach dumplings w/ tamarind dipping sauce. I could have consumed a plate full of these for dinner -- so yummy! Finally, I had the grilled swordfish on eggplant and mushroom risotto. I was so full at this point that I barely touched my fish, but it was fantastic - moist, flavorful.
Lunch the next day wasn't spectacular, but was good -- Blue Corn Cafe. I really needed an enchilada w/ green chile sauce, and I couldn't get into Cafe Pasquale. Good enchilada, great green chile sauce.
And if you go to Santa Fe anytime, be sure to visit Ten Thousand Waves, the BEST spa I've ever visited, and I love going to spas.
