I was going to try out Ototo Sushi on Queen Anne last night but they were having some kind of party, so we went to Sanmi (by Palisade) and I'm so glad we did! The most welcoming sushi chefs and fellow diners---we sat at the sushi bar and were very happy we did. The fish was impeccable---I'd never had flounder sashimi, so we tried that along with other sashimi to start. Then we moved on...I like to try new things at a sushi bar that has impressed me with the sashimi, so we ordered the Monkfish liver and the woman next to me leaned over to say it's one of her favorites...the sushi chef just smiled....he was funny and great at what he does.
Monkfish liver is alot like foie gras, so decide for yourself---it was fine, but I don't go to sushi to eat foie gras....if I'm craving savory I'll usually get some eel...
Anyways, I've never had a better (pardon my spelling) ameobi---raw prawn. We ordered one, then at the end of our meal we ordered another...for dessert. Simply luscious. I haven't been impressed with sushi for a long time. I highly recommend it.
