San Sui on Hillhurst

We used to frequent San Sui before their makeover and really enjoyed the food. One of our favorite dishes was the calamari in spicy garlic sauce.
We had heard that, along with changing the interior, they had also changed the menu and, even though we were hesitant, we decided to give it a try. Boy, were we disappointed!
Gone were the combination dinners and big pots of soup. We asked the waiter about the calamari (it wasn't listed on the menu) and he said that it was still available so we ordered it. It was NOT the same as the old version...what we got was a very large squid "body" that was sliced (not all the way through) into rings and inside was what my partner
still refers to as "pancake batter". We found it to be inedible.
I'm not one to send back a dish and ask for it to be taken off or my bill but this time I just had to.
Needless to say, we have never been back.
I'm now wondering if anyone has been recently and what their opinion might be? We're wondering if the menu is the same or if they've maybe gone back to the older version (we hope)?
