San Rafael’s New York by the Bay Deli?

Melanie Wong | Apr 27, 200401:43 PM     8

This small deli next to the discount gas place has been around for a handful of years. I’d noticed it when getting cash at Citibank across the street. Recently I stopped in for an egg cream. They did a pretty good job, served very cold, using U-Bet’s and getting a frothy if not airy head on it.

It wasn’t meal time so I didn’t try more from the menu. The proprietress told me the pastrami comes from the Bronx. The offerings are pretty extensive, including kreplach, matzoh ball soup, whitefish, tongue, chopped liver, etc.

Any chowhound comments?
