If you are looking for lunch classics, can't miss stopping at the Madonna Inn south of San Luis Obispo on Highway 101 - and their Copper Cafe. Had a great BLT, stacked high with bacon and a fine homemade potato salad as our choice among many sides.. Rest of the menu had any soup, salad or sandwich (hot and cold) that one could wish for - all well done with homemade sides and dressings. Including a half sandwich and soup, salad or chili.
Plus a slice of their not to be missed Toffee Crunch Cake - divine white cake, layered with whipped cream and slathered with homemade, tender and crunchy toffee chunks. Portion sizes are large, so DH and I shared both the sandwich and the piece of cake and both felt well satisfied. Plenty of other cake and pie flavors, but this is the one we love best.
Open for indoor table service - spread around the cafe and dining room, along with socially distanced spaces around their legendary copper-covered central counter.
