San Gabriel Valley and vicinity dining options

Selene | Nov 30, 200412:11 PM

My family has been living in Monterey Park for years; as you can imagine, we've pretty fully explored the Chinese, particularly Cantonese, dining options in the area. Lately I've been trying to expand their eating horizons; the last time I was home, I took them to Babita's in San Gabriel and everyone really enjoyed it. Since then, I've been trying to find other good places to take them for dinner. My mom is deathly afraid of spicy food and avoids tomatoes and raw food (like sushi). My dad is more willing to try other things, though I took them to eat Ethiopian food a few years ago and he complained that Chinese food was better. Also, I don't think they'd be willing to pay more than $20-$30 per entree, or drive terribly far for food (say, within half an hour driving time).

Any suggestions?
