Chinese restaurants have been hit particularly hard by Coronavirus fall out starting with the early reports of the disease in January and many closing down with March's shelter-in-place orders. Volunteers of the Rose Pak Democratic Club created the "Chinatown Eats" directory of Chinese food businesses that are still open for business.
When I first scanned the entries, I was stunned at the number of stalwarts not included and presumably shuttered for now. For a quick spot check, no answer to my phone call or a mention on social media would seem to indicate that these businesses are closed: Bow Hon, Bund Shanghai, Chef Hung's Eastern Bakery, Garden, Golden Saba Seafood, Great Eastern Restaurant, Hon's Wun tun, House of Nanking, Lai Hong Lounge, Louie's Dim Sum, New Sun Hong Kong, Washington Bakery, and Woey Loy Goey.
Let that sink in.
Still, let's rally around those that are soldiering on to offer take-out. According to the list, Dol Ho lives. LIkewise, Capital, Duk Hing, Kam Lok, Kam Po BBQ, Good Mong Kok, Sam Wo, Yuet Lee ( https://www.chowhound.com/post/yuet-l... ), Z & Y Restaurant, and others are open for business. Two omissions are R&G Lounge (now closing at 8pm) and Taishan Cuisine that I spoke to yesterday (and will submit to the volunteers for inclusion).
Please support Chinatown.
