I just want to thank all the posters for their great tips on SD restaurants. Although I had the misfortune of staying at the TOWN AND COUNTRY, a plethora of dining choices were available to me and my car. Berta's in Old Town really is a gem - Berta sat and talked with us, and her food was cheap, good, creative, and international. And that beer menu - wow! I LOVED Trattoria Acqua (went twice) and still dream about the Wild Mushroom and Black Truffle filled Agnolottis. The lobster risotto was a bit over the top, and service was great once and not so great the second time (I ordered the pork chop but he brought me the quail?) but I'd go back with no hesitation. Bandar's, I thought, was really beautiful, and they are awfully nice, but after two meals there I would not return.I was so looking forward to their tender and moist chicken kababs around the lentils and rice, and although there were nine! of them, they were all dried out and tasteless. The fesenjan(stew)I ordered for dinner was cloyingly sweet and the chicken was extremely dried out. Ended up leaving it. Wine in all the places was plentiful and cheap, according to Chicago standards, so I can't wait to go back! Thanks again.
