Ex-San Diegan returns to Celebrate

Hi All:

As some of you may recall, I lived in PB from 1981-90 before relocating to San Francisco. Now, as part of the family vacation to parts of Southern California (we are taking our 4 year old to Disneyland) we find ourselves back in the old home town for the first time in many a year.

We will be staying in PB for a couple of nights during Labor Day week and on September 3, my wife turns the big 40. We need a recommendation for dinner that contemplates the following: we love all cuisines, thus, we would consider any type but..... we will have the boy with us, who frankly, is a restaurant kid, having gone with us everywhere since infancy. Read, it has to be at least a wee bit kid-friendly but he has gone to spots that are not considered so without any problem so this is not that big of an issue. It needs to have a good wine list since, after all, we are up here right next to wine country and this is one of our passions.(Bob F?)

We will have our vehicle so we are willing to drive a bit from PB. Anything new and/or of note in PB, La Jolla? Any of the old favorites still around and worth going to, e.g., Wine Sellar & Brasserie or what was that great Italian Spot off Morena Blvd? (not Old Trieste, south of there)

Anyway, all recommendations will be appreciated. Looking forward to spending a few days in the old neighborhood. Thanks folks.
