I'm going to SA in two weeks, and I'm interested in good food. I don't want the usual, touristy, downtown experience. I'm from Louisiana, will eat anything (cajun stomach), and am not afraid of marginal neighborhoods/getting off the beaten path. I'll be staying downtown for 5 days for a convention, but will have evenings free. Your suggestions for great local food? If there are any "secrets" downtown, tell me about those as well. Am mostly interested in ethnic, downhome, BBQ, tex-mex, lunch counters, etc. Not as interested in fine dining. Thanks in advance, y'all.
