Ill be visiting your fair city for the second time over the weekend of the 20th. Ill be there for 2 nights for a conference, and Id appreciate some recommendations. Ive been mining this board since October, so I have about three pages of notes (currently at the ofice, desgraciadamente), but I wanted to get some current intelligence.
In 2001 I attended another conference in San Antonio. On that occasion, I combined 5 vacation days with the Official Business, and had a delightful time eating my way around. I stayed at the Columns B&B on Alamo Dr., and ate at a number of places in the King William area and south of there to the Lone Star Brewery. The Columns left me feeling pampered like royalty, and my husband and I discovered numerous delightful dining spots in our wanderings.
Im not going to take any vacation days this time (suddenly Im regretting that), but I have two dinners to enjoy Friday and Saturday nights. Time for breakfast and lunch will be too limited to stray from the Riverwalk/Convention Center area. Im assuming that the entire area surrounding the convention center will be slammed as usual. Im willing to invest in a cab ride for a good meal. It neednt be fancy, but it could be. It neednt be Tex, or Mex, or TexMex, but it could be. Im not inclined to pay for a super-premium meal, but Im not ruling one out. The only requirement is that it should be good.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
