Saltillo, Mexico report

travisleroy | May 4, 2005 03:35 PM

We spent a night in Saltillo.

We dined at Restaurant Tapanco, friendly but pricey. I enjoyed my steak Tampiqueño, especially the side dishes, but my companion was unhappy with his not very tender order of lamb.

Had breakfast at El Cisne. Delightful granola, yogurt and ensalada de frutas, hearty plates of eggs in the usual variety of styles. For atmosphere and price, this may be the better place for a typical Mexican dinner.

On previous visits we have also enjoyed the Terrazza Romana, an Italian restaurant across from the Parque Alameda. We prefer to dine upstairs. The Parque is very pretty, and well worth an after dinner stroll.

For convenience and quality, we like the Hotel Colonial Alameda. You can park securely in front of your (overly decorated) room, and walk to all the sights in the Centro.
