Salt Water at the MGM Casino

Hi All,

We are considering holding my bf's birthday party at Chef Mina's SaltWater inside the MGM Casino in about a month. It's a big birthday (30!) and we are having a bunch of family members and a few friends out for dinner. We know this place is very expensive, but this dinner is being given as a (very generous) gift, so price isn't so much of an issue.

We haven't read a whole lot of reviews on Chowhound though about this fairly new restaurant. We were looking for some insight about whether or not this is a good place for a fun celebration. We all love food and thought the menu looked incredible. I have heard that some of the portions are small though. Do you feel like the portions are in proportion to the prices on the menu etc?

Also, we were told we could have a private room if necassary. Has anyone dined in their private room? Is noise usually an issue from the main room? (Are you sitting there eating your $40 ahi tuna plate and hearing slot machines jingling and beeping?)

Thanks for your help and any thoughts you have on this restaurant.
