A Charcuterie and Wine tasting room with an emphasis on pairing the meat and wine. Essentially, it is a wine bar with charcuterie as tapas. The room does not have a full kitchen.
Nicely minimal room with a long bar to one side and a long communal table at the back. The room is beautifully detailed. It is located at Blood Alley in Gastown...an area that is reminiscent of certain parts of Amsterdam.
We had the Tasting Menus ($15 CAD - same price for a triplet flight of wine) : Three items of meats and cheeses with condiments such as mustards, membrillo, balsamic reductions, etc). Three different wines (and a Snakebite - beer and apple ale) paired with the meats. The pairings were expertly done and worked well. We had two of each (2 flights of wine and two plates of meat and cheese).
It is an interesting and potentially influential concept. There are small rooms all over the city that would be too expensive to retrofit with a full kitchen. This concept opens up all sorts of possibilities.
Would I go back? Perhaps. I don't have a strong desire to go back soon, not because I didn't like the overall experience...I just have other places to try first.
