Shopping around for a new set of salt/pepper dispensers, and I am eyeing a set where both are mills.
Question: Is a salt mill not only unnecessary, but actually detrimental, to salt presentation? I ask because so much of the flavor of salt come from the shape/flakiness of the grains. Would futzing with that by running it through a mill actually diminish the quality/specialness of the salt? (I'm especially thinking of higher quality salt, such as fleur de sel or regional salts.)
And if I do get the mill, what kind of salt is best to use in it? Please provide any brand names if you know specifically.
