I've been looking through salsa verde recipes on the web and there seem to be two types. One type is made with herbs, lemon juice, capers, and oil. The other type is made with tomatillos, chiles, and cilantro. The second type uses Mexican ingredients and is sometimes called Mexican salsa verde. What is the origin of the first type of salsa verde (herbs, lemon, oil)? Is it Spanish? I made it several times and it is very yummy. Great on fish, sandwiches, and as a bread dip. If anyone knows the origin of this dish and any authentic recipes for it, please write back.
