Hmm, I'm glad I stopped at this one. I've been wondering if there are any good picks in that stretch of Hwy 90. There were big steamy bowls of the most delicous looking gumbo going by. Definitely intend to try gumbo next time. However, we settled on oyster po'boys. Wow, oysters are getting big again. (I had gotten discouraged after Hurricanes Lily and Isadore.) They were huge - battered and deep fried. Although I prefer cornmeal instead of batter for oysters, it was almost one of the best oyster loaves every - going by the sheer size of the oysters and the good french bread. It just had too much mayo. If you get a chance, stop at Sal's. Just tell them to hold the mayo.
