Husband and I are both fans of smoked salmon and salmon roe (more often getting the roe at sushi bars).
Had a small tin (1 oz?) of roe with some other appetizers for dinner tonight and husband declares "I like the sushi bar roe better."
Is there any difference between the prepared, salted roe that one can buy in the smoked fish/roe/prepared fish department at a gourmet grocery and the roe at a sushi bar? IMO, the bad difference is that roe open too long at a sushi bar without enough traffic is fishy - not that a small container, freshly opened, is worse.
