Wanted to check this place out for awhile and stopped in for a quick bite before a party on sat. the outdoor garden was nearly empty considering the cool night. the gravel on the floor felt like eating in a sandbox but it was fine.
service was a bit slow but nothing too bad. we had the sushi deluxe platter and the horse mackerel tartare appetizer. the quality of the fish was quite good...fresh and well prepared. the eel was particularly excellent.
long story short, a small dinner with no drinks was $50. the quality was good but not outstanding. the way i see it, taro is the park slope sushi leader...if i want a nice restaurant for sushi, i might go back to sakura but considering the prices, you get much more food and better quality at taro.
