Your Jackson Heights reporter here with just a couple of quick updates.

First, Student Biryani seems to be no more. The windows are papered over (have been for about a week) and sign says "closed for renovation - Bombay Harbour"

Second, Oct. 7 ago one poster [BROKEN LINK REMOVED]
mentioned seeing the previous owner of Alladin on 37th at Sajna. I think I know the gentleman he is referring to. Anyway, since the beginning of Ramadam (Islamic lunar calendar holy holiday, which includes daily fast during daylight hours) there has been no buffet at Sajna. Instead there is a buffet of food in the corner smaller store front. The buffet is specifically food for "iftar" i.e. food for breaking the fast at the end of the day and is take out during the day or "take your iftar box next door to eat at Sajna" in the evening.

This activity along with the name Alladin being included in the sign for the smaller corner store front has triggered some speculation about changes for Sajna. I spoke a little bit with the aforementioned gentleman who seems to be in charge and he said Sajna will continue and that the Alladin store front will have a different menu. My guess that the smaller Alladin store will be sweets and snacks take out. I didn't ask very many questions because it was busy.

Third, Changpai, the halal Chinese restaurant on 61st Street, a block north of Roosevelt Ave, that I trumpeted (and at least one person disagreed with my rec) last spring is no more. I will miss them. An Indo/Pak/Bangladeshi place has opened instead which has different personnel. Haven't done more than peek in through the window so far. They also have been mostly serving iftar boxes.
