Sahn Maru- Delicious Korean in Oakland

aceindia | May 20, 200402:48 PM

As someone mentioned earlier, Sahn Maru has opened (I think it opened on Tuesday) at 4315 Telegraph, the former site of Happy Family. I was excited to try it, because it's very close to my house, and I love Korean food. It was fabulous. What we ate:

Spicy Chicken with sweet potato and cabbage
Barbequed Prawns with special sauce

The Chicken was deliciously spicy, with perfectly cooked slices of sweet potato and little tubes of spicy rice cake. The prawns were, indeed in a special sauce, which was quite addictive. They also gave us a complimentary bowl of tofu soup. It also was wonderful, quite fishy, which I don't usually like, but the balance of flavors made it addictive. It was one of those meals where my boyfriend and I said initially, eyeing the mounds of food, "oh, we'll have lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow," and of course, we ate every morsel. The total for the meal plus two sodas was $35.
