Sahari in Sunnyvale closing - one week left

mdg | Apr 9, 200602:39 AM

The Sunnyvale restaurant scene has some bad news to balance the good news about Shalimar. Sahari, a one-of-a-kind Egyptian restaurant on Fremont at Saratoga-Sunnyvale, is closing afer 13 years.

They plan to be open until Friday the 14th. So this is your last week to get their wonderful fuul, plus the best baba ghanouge and dolmas in town. Maybe they'll make om ali for dessert this week, but they're pretty busy doing the transfer so don't count on it.

When we first moved to Silicon Valley 10 years ago, Sahari was one of the very few souful restaurants serving excellent food with outstanding personality. The restaurant scene has gotten much better since then, and other fine Middle Eastern restaurants have opened in Sunnyvale and surrounding towns. But none had the Egyptian outlook and panache of Sahari. They will be greatly missed.
