SAHAR International Market

Querencia | Aug 29, 201904:40 PM     2

Not sure---are we allowed to recommend stores here? Yesterday I went searching Chicago for omani, the dried ground lime that seasons a Persian eggplant dish that I like, and found it (and a zillion other Middle Eastern products) at SAHAR International Market, where I had never been before. It is in a strip mall just north of Lawrence on Kedzie. Not much going on there with meat or produce but a vast variety of grocery products---I felt as if I was in Teheran or Istanbul. Spices, grains, beans, about forty kinds of honey, canned products, biscuits, cosmetics. They carry fresh pita from Sanabel Bakery but I could see where they were baking another kind of flatbread in an adjacent room. A store worth investigating.
