Sahadi's Syrian Spice Blend

JungMann | Apr 22, 2012 08:41 PM

Has anyone here used Sahadi's or Damascus Bakery's Syrian spice blend for traditional Levantine cooking? Many Arab homecooks have come to rely on allspice as a catchall for the intricate spice blends that go into every dish, to the detriment of the cuisine imho. I still make my blends by hand, which can be a tedious practice of recollection due to the scarcity of good English-language cookbooks for traditional Levantine recipes. If the spice blends at Sahadi's or Damascus are good, I wouldn't mind using them as home base and tweaking them here and there depending on the dish.
