I just got back from lunch at Saffron in San Carlos. It was not very good to say the least. The space is quite nice, soft amber tones, nicely laid out. However the food for the lunch buffet was terribly bland. Everything offered lacked the chili burn that makes Indian cooking so wonderful. It was as though they had tempered it for the masses so to speak. The buffet was $9.95 and it was overpriced at that. Many of the dishes were using the same sauces with diferent primary ingredients, like korma style sauce with potatoes in one tray, lamb in another, and lentils in the other, so variety was limited. I know not to expect too much from a buffet, but I have tried many other Indian buffets and been very satisfied. Maybe others have had better experiences with Saffron?
