The sad state of Pizza in Portland

amy3 | Aug 7, 200212:03 PM     17

I tried Pizzacato last night... Wouldn't have normally, but was desperate. Good lord. I will maybe someday try a whole pizza there, in case that's better than slices, but I don't know.

Anyway, I've tried Hot Lips, which is decent. I like the fresh herbs on top. I've been meaning to try Escape from NY, but am waiting for a day when my stomach is feeling tough, since I've heard it's rather greasy. Is there any other good pizza place here? It doesn't at all have to be New York style pizza. In fact, maybe it'd be better if it wasn't, since places outside of NY that claim to have NY-style pizza are generally wrong. Basically I'm more interested in getting *good* pizza of any type than in finding a particular type of pizza. Deep dish, bar pizzas, whatever. Please let me know if there's anywhere in particular I should try.

Thanks!
