I was in the Japanese restaurant Zentoro the other day, and found out that the Japanese chef there was originally trained in French and Italian food, and had previously worked at the Hyatt. I spoke to his wife, who said that he can prepare a special Japanese-Italian fusion meal, with seating in a private room, for $50 a person. Of course, this would be for a group of about 10 to 12 people. This type of cuisine is now popular in Tokyo, and Japanese chefs there often do some amazing and memorable one-off things with seasonal ingredients. Being able to have this in Sacramento would be a treat, especially because this kind of cuisine isn't very "marketable" to Sacramento's legions of "XXX Roll" lovers, so nobody is doing it.
