Sacramento or Chico recs for Prom dinner

2004Grad | Feb 19, 2004 03:08 PM

I live right between Chico and Sacramento and would like some recommendations for restaurants that would serve a nice dinner for before the prom. I've been to Sacramento more often than Chico, so I know some of the restaurants there. However, I don't usually eat "upscale" when I'm there.

Last year for prom, we went to Marrakech on Fulton. We all enjoyed the floor show and the majority liked the food, but we had some "whinies" who just wouldn't eat anything exotic. Has anyone tried the Benihana's in Sac? Is it good? Worth the price? Relatively quiet?

Quiet is a big deal for me. It seems like even the nicest restaurants are too noisy for conversation. Case in point, P.F. Chang's. Food has been inconsistent, but generally pretty good. The noise level is always horrible!

Thanks in advance for any ideas you have that will help make my senior prom a special night.

P.S. My BF is a honey--hasn't had as much experience with different types of food as I have, but is willing to try new foods. Not a whiner either. Both of us like seafood and sushi. I'm game for just about any type of food except restaurants that serve exclusively lamb and pork.

Also, I'm the Editor of my school paper so I'd like to write an article with some restaurant recs. Thanks, again!
