Sabor Latino Restaurant
33 Garrett Road (just up the street from 69th St. Terminal, around the corner from Alisa cafe)
They have been open for approximately 2 months. Open M-F 9-9, Sat 8-11, Sun 8-10. The chef is from Ecuador, staff very friendly and service quite good.
I started with empanadas, light and not greasy, served with a wonderful and spicy sauce. My frind John had the soup of the day (which happened to be lentil), and it was so good that I brought an order home. Probably the best lentil soup I have ever eaten, light broth with lots of fresh veggies. John had the chalutas (pork chops) and I had Pechuga de Pollo al Ajillo (chicken breast in incredible garlic sauce). Entrees come with choice of beans (red or black), rice (yellow or white) and one additional side (avacado, cassava, fries, green or sweet plantains). The green plaintains come with a wonderful garlic sauce. Both John and I are big eaters, and we left the table very satisfied.
This was undoubtedly one of the most incrdible Latin meals that I have ever eaten. The food is much better than Tierra Columbiana, and better than most (if not all) latino meals I have eaten in Manhattan and Jackson Heights, NY. For anyone in Philadelphia who likes latino food, this place is a must!!
