Had dinner at Taranta last night for Restaurant Week. Started out the night with a glass of wine at Bricco and then crossed the street for dinner. We were seated on the second floor. I didn't realize the place had three floors of dining. Very crowded and loud, but the noise didn't bother me. Actually, the area in gerneral was very crowded last night.
For apps I got the muscles and the little woman got the salad. The muscles were excellent and my girlfriend spent most of the time dipping her bread into the sauce wishing she had ordered them insead of the salad.
There were four choices for entrees: a pasta dish, a chicken dish, trout, and steak (hanger I think?). I went with the trout and she got the chicken. I was actually surprised at how the trout was presented. It was a whole fish sitting on top of small potatoes with some spinach tossed in. The meal was served in a ceramic type bowl that had been placed in the oven...extremely hot. Almost too hot for the first few minutes. I thought the meal was very good. Had a bite of the chicken and thought it had a great flavor, just didn't seem to exciting to me. Roast chicken and potatoes seems like something I can cook. Of course I probably would never get the same flavor and tenderness down.
Two options for desert. A melting chocolate cake and a limoncello sorbet I think. We both went with the chocolate. I know every place in the city serves this, but we both had a choclate craving.
Overall I would say the meal was very good and the server was attentive and fun. I'd like to try some things from their regular menu sometime.
