Wednesday lunch at Nougatine, the informal room adjoining Jean-Georges: Parsnip soup with cider gelee and spiced croutons (quite good, hard to believe no creme!), slow-baked salmon with pad thai
(excellent...some secret ingredients in the salmon made is fragrant and soothing). Dessert was a poached pear. There was one other choice for each course. Service was gracious, room relatively quiet (I have a feeling one could have obtained a table on a same-day basis), Chef Jean-Georges was in the room, overseeing his young, energetic kitchen staff. Open kitchen a plus. I have always enjoyed Nougatine, but resent their policy of bringing and pouring $5 mini-bottles of San Pellegrino water without asking if you want another. You have to let them know if you only want one before switching to tap water. I can highly recommend the RW experience here...definitely did NOT feel treated inferiorly because we had ordered the $20.05 menu. Enjoy!!
