RW- Icarus

I went to Icarus last night with my parents for their RW menu. We had reservations at 5 PM (my parents had to drive back to Western MA so they wanted an early dinner). We arrived a few minutes early but were seated right away. My mom and I started off with the summer sangria (she had the red, I had the white)...both were very refreshing. My dad and I had the Crisp Polenta, Braised Azuluna Veal Breast, Black Truffles, and Parmesan. I felt the polenta could have been seasoned a little more but it did provide of nice flavor contrast to the rich and flavorful braised veal. My mom had the Marinated Wellfleet Littlenecks & Casco Bay Mussels, Panzanella Salad & Saffron Aioli. I thought this was delicious...the juices from the mussels and clams went really well with the saffron aioli and the croutons provided a nice textural contrast. For an entree I had the Grilled Leg of Lamb, Socca Pancakes Stuffed with Peppery Greens, Lemon Caper Vinaigrette. It was really good but not amazing. The lamb was full of flavor and cooked very well...however, I felt that the other components of the dish (the socca pancake, a random piece of feta cheese, and some beets) weren't pulled together that didn't seem to be a cohesive dish. My favorite dish of the night was my mom's Pan-Fried Sunburst Trout, Pecan Brown Butter, and Bright Lights Chard. The trout was delicious, a crispy top layer that gave way to moist and tender literally melted in your mouth (perhaps that was all the butter?). We finished dinner with the chocolate decadence (very very dense chocolate cake, reminded me of chocolate truffles) and the lemon buttermilk panna cotta which was surprisingly delicious and light. Service was good and attentive. Overall it was a very satisfying meal at a satisfying price.
