Rustica in Sausalito

Antonio Ruggerio has opened Rustica at 39 Caledonia Street in Sausalito. As you know he owned Pronto Pasta in San Rafael previously.

I dined there with my wife and I usually do not order pasta because we eat it at home. But his wife had sheets of pasta drying on a table in the main dining room and put it through the pasta machine to slice it into papardelle and fettucini, (it was what they did at Pronto Pasta in the dining room)and watching them toss it onto plates to take into the kitchen made it so I had to order some.

The space was formerly Treviso and he has retained the dark wood look and the full bar.

I had a Caesar salad and the homemade papardelle with Wild Boar Ragu, the pasta was al dente and the ragu was full flavored.

My wife had the tortellini soup, the broth was strong, with a beefy flavor very good and the main course was prawns (again, something I can eat at home and do not order in restaurants, it was good but did not stand out as special).

They have small pizzas and they looked good on the other tables, the crust is a little on the thicker side but when I go back I will try one and let you know.

The added charm is their little girl who is about two years old, is part of the scene with the mom as they visit with friends and guests. It makes for the family atmosphere.
