Have a friend who will be in New York next month without time to take the trek out to Brighton. I've not been to Uncle Vanya or some of the other Russian spots on the rock and was hoping I could get some recommendations. It need not be the high falutin' stuff, just the basics: Olivier perhaps, selianka, Kharcho (OK, that's Georgian) & the like. Any ideas? A native Russian speaker is available to help out so language is no problem.
I remember there was a banya somewhere in lower Manhattan but do not remember the name and, what's more, have no idea if the attached restaurant is worth going to. Any help is appreciated.
