Russian Gourmet has a new location in Alexandria

AC | Feb 27, 2006 10:42 AM

We’ve been anticipating the arrival of Russian Gourmet’s new location in Alexandria ever since we happened to spot the sign touting its pending arrival on 907 Slaters Lane. The location is amidst a new commercial outpost on Slaters Lane, the sliver of an avenue that connects GW Parkway with Route 1. And yes, the owners are the very same ones who operate the Russian Gourmet in Mclean.

They were still stocking the shelves when we rolled in, and, in fact, we were their very first customers. We scored some Kvas, some pomegranate juice, a poppyseed cake, and a few Russian chocolates. Since they were still setting up, we didn’t see any of the prepared foods that they normally offer at the Mclean location, but those should be forthcoming. The owner seemed anxious about this choice of location, but I imagine that all the chowhounds in Alexandria and nearby Arlington will be glad that they no longer have to schlep out to Mclean for their Russian Gourmet fix.

Check out Russian Gourmet at 907 Slaters Lane in Alexandria.
