Royal Indian Palace in Yonkers has been sold to new owners; we're told the other restaurant in Greenburgh has not. My wife and I had dinner at the Yonkers restaurant last night. It was not good. The atmosphere, never the place's selling point, has worsened -- formerly lit only by candlelight, the recessed ceiling lights are now turned on full blast. The food itself was greasy, yet dry. The keema nan, always our favorite appetizer, was strangely flat. The new owner was telling us of plans to remodel. He should put his energies into the food itself. For now, we're feeling one less reason to drive down to a distinctly unpleasant part of Central Ave. We plan to check out the Greenburgh location soon to be sure it hasn't changed hands.
