After seeing this place a few times and seeing Seth's reveiw last year I decided to try it this afternoon. It was on the way to the Heart Hospital where my brother is recovering at so I killed 2 birds with one stone.
We entered and there was a sign that said seat yourself so we picked a spot back by the bar in a both. It was a little wait for someone to notice a hear as there were only two other tables occupied.
Our drink order was taken and we were asked if we wanted chips. Of course. After our drink orders she brought two salsas, one green, one red, but no chips or drinks. About 10 min later our drinks arrived, no chips. I asked, she said they'd be out in a few.
Finally the chips came, they were hot and fresh, but a little over fried. Then she took our order.
2. 2 Cheese enchiladas
3. 2 beef taco's
3. Cheese crisp
(total with 2 drinks was $27.50)
It seemed like we waited a while for these to come out, but we enjoyed the chips and the red salsa. The green just had heat, no flavor. The red had a nice smoky flavor.
We all enjoyed our food, however they forgot the cheese crisp, which wasn't good since it was our 11 year olds meal. Its hard to wait to eat, when everyone else has there food. It came out about 5 min later. It was extremly greasy and not very crisp.
All the food was good, not stellar. I like the enchiladas the best. The taco was good, but the meat was like mush being ground beef not shredded. Hubby like the carnitas real well. I will say the spanish rice that came with it and I don't like spanish rice that well was some of the best I've tasted and the beans were good too.
I don't know if we picked the wrong section, but a couple came in and sat in the booth behind us a lit up. I did not see any signs to say smoking or non smoking. Good thing we were almost done.
I took the leftover rice, beans, chips and tortilla's to my brother since he hasn't had good food in awhile! He loved the rice.
