I have read little about Rose Water on this board. so, when my wife and I went this weekend, it was on the recommendation of friends, not from Chouwhound. Simply, we really enjoyed it. This is tabbed as a Mediterranean place, but it is not your typical restaurant of that genre. They have very interesting dishes and use fresh and local produce. The pita is made fresh and is delicious.
The space is small, but feels more cozy than cramped. The service is excellent, with a lot of attention to detail. They are very enthusiastic about their product, which is always nice, as well.
We had a mezza plate and a seasonal green salad to start. Both were excellent. The carrot puree on the mezza plate was the finest I've ever tasted. But, the hummus was rather bland. The aforementioned pita made up for that, though. The salad was fresh and original.
For entrees we went with a ribeye special and the halibut. The ribeye was delicious, not too fatty, and topped with a great garlic butter. The halibut was fresh, and tasty. however, I don't like a warm dish served on top of cold greens.
Overall, we were very pleased and would return. Our only real complaint was that it is a little bit more expensive than we were hoping for a small place in Brooklyn. However, that seems to be the growing trend in Park Slope and Cobble Hill. We spent over $80 with no beverages. This is a little more than I would have liked and the ribeye special was overpriced at $30.
