I'd heard a lot over the years about Rose Pistola. Finally on Saturday we had a late lunch there (around 3:30) and it was a very pleasant experience. Of course at that time, there were few customers and the service was fine. We had a table by the window, which was great for people watching on busy Columbus Avenue.
We shared a smoked fish appetizer and simple baby lettuce salad with winter citrus. My husband had pork/fowl ravioli in broda. The presentation was very simple, with a heaping amount of ravioli in a small bowl, but the taste was rich and succulent and he was definitely satisfied. I had steamed clams, which also came with a small amount of pasta. With a great bottle of Unti Vineyards Grenache Rose (Dry Creek), the bill came to $99. A splurge, yes, but cheaper than air fare to Italy.
