Romeo's Pizza, Memphis

In fairness to the lady who posted recently about this place, she DID say she was related to John Willis, who, as I remember her report, provides the BBQ for the BBQ pizzas served here.
Wanting to try something new, and rather close by (on Southern, near Perkins & Target store), we dropped in at 7 last night. The fact we were the only diners there at a restaurant's busiest hour should have been a signal to "keep right on a-walkin'," but we wanted to give it a try.
First, it's one of those places where you PAY up front, get a number, and collect your meal thru the cook's window yourself. You're given a styrofoam cup and serve yourself ice tea. Also get your eating utensils. Strike One.
Second, my wife ordered the BBQ pizza (she loves 'em at Pete & Sam's and Coletta's) and I got the night's specialty -- ravioli and a salad. You're given the salad immediately in a bowl with plastic over the top, together with your dressing in a little paper cup. Salad left a lot to be desired. Strike Two.
Third, the main course. My ravioli, I think for sure, came out of a Franco-American can, and the sauce came straight out of a Hunt's can. Even the parmesan cheese (which you also have to go and get; not at the tables) was Kraft, transferred to a PC holder. Wife ate two pieces of her 8" BBQ pizza and pushed it aside. Wanting to see what all the fuss was about, I finished it. Virtually NO tomato sauce on it; and if the BBQ EVER had any taste, it was left in the kitchen!
Strike Three.

And ALL during our meal we were the only ones there. You would think the owner, standing there all the time, would have dropped by the table and welcomed us; chit chatted; tried to make us feel like he appreciated our coming and would like for us to return some day. NO way.

AS we were walking out the door, he shouted, "Y'all come back." To which I replied, "Get a GOOD look at my face," leaving unsaid, "you'll never see it again in here!"

Overall, I rank it one of the three worst meals I've ever had dining out ... and I've done that all over the world !

My recommendation on Romeo's Pizza: DON'T !!
