hi chowhounders. I have been scouring posts trying to make up my mind where I should eat lunch and dinner tomorrow and Rome - and I am simply too Virgo - can't make up my mind....so here goes.
I have just come from 3 days in Amalfi (amazing meals) and 7 days in Tuscany (many Cucina Tipica Toscana meals) and we are ending our trip with one full day and nite in Rome.
I am traveling with my husband and my best friend - they are very easy going.
For lunch I would love to find something fun and very traditional Roman fare. I was thinking about Riscioli but I am hearing some bad things about it lately. Another person had suggested Gusto - but it looks too turista for us.
For dinner we are looking for the killer combo of great food and a really fun and lively atmosphere. We are not afraid to eat late either. After 7 days of quiet dinners in Tuscany we want something loud and delicious.
I am craving some excellent roman fare - not afraid to go a little upscale - but the Boyer don't have sport coats (I know) so that kicks us down. Outdoor seating for dinner would be fantastic as well but not a must. Vibe and food come first. Dare I say even rowdy would be nice?
Last year I went to Trattoria Monti. LOVED. I still dream about this giant ravioli with a perfect egg yolk inn the middle. As far as my palate can remember it was perfect.
I am also open to a walking lunch of some street food but I have no idea where and what. Fry shop? Pizza?
I know this is a very last minute post - but I would be so grateful for some quick feedback.
