we're off to venice post-carnivale and it's going to be my husband's birthday while we're there. we've arranged for a rare treat - a babysitter(!) - and would like to go for a really special dinner.
what would you suggest if we'd like something cozy, candlelight would be nice but isn't required, real venetian cuisine is a must but menu must have options that aren't seafood b/c my husband doesn't like fish, and we don't want touristy.
a little venetian gem is what we're after and the budget, while not completely irrelevant is pretty flexible, though i've read that lots of the great places in venice are not necessarily the ones that are most expensive. still, alle testiere seems to be coming up a lot, and someone mentioned the met, but i don't want too stuffy either...any ideas?
thanks much in advance, kim
