Rocking Horse Mexican Cafe

John Speer | Mar 28, 199907:56 AM     5

I loved the place (8th Ave in Chelsea) when I first went there a couple of years ago. Tried it a few times thereafter and continued to be impressed -- though it is a tad pricey. A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I tried to get in at 7PM on a Thursday and the place was completely packed.
Last night (Saturday), we tried again around 6:00 and were seated promptly, though with a touch of attitude we thought. Anyway...the food seems to have gone downhill as the place has gotten more popular. My appetizer was almost all pastry and my friend found his appetizer tasteless. I thought my main course was OK -- he was disappointed finding it so-so.
Would like to hear of other experiences there.
