Rocco's Hoagies - Bellevue

Harry Porter | Aug 10, 2003 11:14 PM

I wished I had previously come across the post here from April that detailed the difference between Rocco's in the Reading Terminal Market and the one in the Bellevue.

We were hoofin' it around Philly Saturday and decided it was time for lunch. I was in the mood for a hoagie and Rocco's in the Market came to mind.

However, we remembered there was one in the Bellevue now. I hadn't been there previously and the idea of a quieter and maybe better air conditioned lunch was appealing.

The first awkward moment came when the counter person tallied up our sandwiches, chips and sodas to a hefty $16. This caused my sun-stroked wife to involuntarily cry out a "What!!". The guy at the register shot us an "I only work here" glance.

I stroked her feathers down and reminded her I had opted for the "Vat O' Coke", which rang in at a little over two bucks. (Still, I was a little sticker-shocked but reasoned that the prime sandwich to come would be worth it.)

Then we received the sandwiches. If they had been any more scantily "dressed", they woulda been required to ask for ID before serving them.

Well, at least I can report that the bread was excellent! I've gotta wonder, though, about the "naked" sandwiches they offer for the carbo impaired. Now that's an obscene prospect.
