Has anyone tried a Trash Can Turkey with a heritage bird? I'm wondering if anyone has been successful with such a thing. If it hasn't been tried before, should there be modifications to the amount of coals used or the toasting time since the heritage bird is more lean? I totally understand that many jaws are probably dropping about doing that to a heritage turkey, and there will be posts about galvanized trash cans and poisoning. Please avoid commenting on that. I am fully aware of all of the opinions on those 2 subjects. Any suggestions about modifying the "trash can process" to suit a heritage bird would be greatly appreciated. and also, would love to hear stories from others that have tried.
