Roastery Coffee House re-opens

Guy Middleton | Sep 5, 2003 12:31 PM

The Roastery, on Queen St west of Lee, is open again.

This coffee house first opened about eight (I think) years ago, with an in-house coffee roaster, with excellent coffee and a nice selection of pastries. After a few years, the owners moved the roasting operation (and themselves) elsewhere, while the location continued as a retail coffee shop.

Unfortunately, the quality of the coffee, the pastries, the service all declined, until finally it closed about a month ago, with an "opening soon under new management" sign.

I walked past the other day, and found that the interior had been mostly repainted, with new furniture and lighting, and the original owners (and their coffee) back again. The coffee is still good, and I'm waiting for them to get the excellent poppy-seed Danish they used to have. :-)
