Would you roast turkey in advance?

Would you roast your Thanksgiving turkey a day ahead? Why or why not? If so, anything special you would do for first cooking or for reheating?

My mom is hosting Thanksgiving this year and wants to try this. Obviously since it's at her house, her rules. Even though I love the turkey roasting on Thanksgiving day, I will admit that my experience is the carving is so messy, space and time consuming, right before the big moment. it would be nice to spare this. but I also hate to go to all that effort only to have less good turkey (asking for me in the future since I normally host)
