Road trip meals

I'm flying into Houston GW Bush and driving up Route 59 to Nacogdoches, and staying there for 2 days.

Are there any noteworthy places on my route worth trying?

It could be a place for lunch on my solo trip up to Nac, or it could be a place in Lufkin, Tyler, or Nac or thereabouts where I could take my elderly relative, or it could be a place on my solo trip back to the airport.

If it's a Houston place, a slight divergence from my path to Nac is OK, as long as the food is worth it.

Notta bene: I am from LA and so what what would attract me is something unique to Texas that I can't get in LA.
