The River restaurant on Roncesvalles has re-opened and it is wonderful. The front is more of a lounge while the back has comfy chairs and banquettes to relax in. Went for brunch and had fantastic eggs benedict with smoked salmon. It came with home fries and a salad, all for $9. Went there last night for dinner. We shared an appetizer block. For $10 it was enough for a meal - four types of cheese, proscuitto, olives (in a terrific marinade), grapes, walnuts and a baguette. Except for the proscuitto being slice too thick and being too chewy, it was great. I had lamb kebabs which were also excellent. You should know that apart from serving great food the River also assist youth at risk and trains them in the hospitality industry. A chance to do good and eat well. I would say (as a Parkdalian) that with River, Domani's, Boho, Silver Spoon and more, Roncesvalles is the place to be.
