River Falls Seafood

RFS in Potomac is now River Falls Market. They have more than doubled the size of the store. I believe this is one of the best seafood markets in MoCo. Very fresh offerings, very well labeled, and fairly priced considering the neighborhood.

Most of the additional space was to make room for their complementary offerings, and some all new ones. They now have extensive meat offerings, including chicken, ducks (and parts), veal, pork, and prime beef from Wolfe Farms (PA I believe). Special orders welcomed.

RFM does a lot of prep foods (pre-marinated meets, stuffed but uncooked chops, stuffed tilapia) and lot of pre-cooked foods (salmon filets, leg of lamb, green beans with almonds, salads, quesadillas, dumplings, etc.) Usually I find this stuff to look pretty unappealing in markets, but here it all looks great. They also have many different store-made sauces, dips, marinades, soups, etc. There is a deli-counter with cold cuts and lots of smoked/cured fish, and lots of packaged products. Seems they're gonna give the deli across the street a run. The counters were all well staffed.

I'm not saying this is Wegman's mind you, but if you haven't been by in a while, I encourage you to give it another look. For those of us who loathe to give our money to SPG, this place is at least locally owned.

Just be careful in the parking lot. People out here don't seem to care if you're in their way, or they're in yours.
